STEC USA Relocates to Larger Facility to Support Production Growth
According to the business market analysis and potential future business from GMNA, STEC USA identified the need for a plant expansion. After analysis and comparison, 31900 Sherman Avenue in Madison Heights was selected as the most suitable location. In order to support the growth of STEC USA, the management of STEC Headquarters approved the relocation on April Twelfth of 2017.
STEC’s former building was 18,618 square feet and could produce window regulators for two GM vehicle programs. The new facility is 30,152 square feet which will allow additional space for many future programs.
Construction began June First of 2017 to follow the architectural building plan that was co-designed by the landlord and the STEC USA management team. To expedite the process, STEC USA hired contractors to work simultaneously alongside the building contractors to prepare the warehouse for window regulator production requirements. This ensured that the when the building construction was complete, the new warehouse was move-in-ready.
The warehouse and production lines were moved into the new facility on the Twenty-Sixth of October and installed that next week. The office staff moved into the new facility on the Thirtieth of October and full production continued.
